Alfred and Elisabet are two primitive youngsters who don’t know how to speak. In order to communicate with each other they have to use so-called sacktionaries, sacks filled with objects they use to say things.

One day, during a torrential storm, the strong waters drag the children away downstream. The Ark of Babel saves their lives and allows them to sail around seven very different seas. On this long journey they go through a whole series of adventures that teach them to speak, learning to express in words what they are feeling.
