«This is a magnificent example of contained lyricism and psychological finesse, reinforced as they are by the precision of language and structure, which lead us to celebrate the return of Ramon Solsona to the novel.» Josep Maria Ripoll, Serra d’Or
«He makes us read right to the end, surprised by so much common sense and intelligence.» Francesc Parcerisas. El País
Synopsis
(The Stale Hours) Owing to a tragic accident, Ostia Antica becomes the centre of a young widower’s memories, while desperately trying to capture and fix the splendour of his deceased wife’s life before it fades away into oblivion. His remembrance is enriched by that of his father-in-law and daughters, which results into a meaningful net of contrasted recollections. The Stale Hours is the diving of a man into the dark, deep waters of mourning.
