Elizabeth DUVAL

Elizabeth Duval (Madrid, 2000) studies Philosophy at the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and French Language and Literature at the Université Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle. She writes poetry, prose, theater, and essay and explores the intersection between text and audiovisual media. In 2017, she was featured on the cover of the journal Tentaciones with a report entitled “The Future is Trans,” and she has been a visible activist in this movement since the age of fourteen. She has contributed to a number of anthologies of fiction [Medusa’s Notebooks (Amor de Madre, 2018), Assault on Oz: Stories from the New Queer Narrative (Dos Bigotes, 2019) and poetry [From Chueca to Heaven (Ayuntamiento de Madrid, 2019) and Madrid (Dostoyevsky Wannabe, 2019)]. She was author, creator, and actor in the multidisciplinary play And the Body Makes a Name For Itself (2018-2019) at Espacio DT and Teatro Pavón Kamikaze as part of the theater creation labs financed by the local and municipal governments of Madrid, and she participated in the cycle Original Version at Espacio DT with the audiovisual recital-experience 14 Variations: A Love that Kills Language (2019).

In 2020 she published Reina (PRH-Caballo de Troya), the first memoirs in Spain by a woman from Generation Z, as well as Exception (Letraversal), a long poem about the streets on fire. After her debut with the literary memoir Reina (PRH/Caballo de Troya, 2020) and the essay Después de lo trans (La Caja Books, 2021), her latest published work is the novel Madrid será la tumba (Lengua de Trapo, 2021) that has been praise by critics and readers alike.
