Berta PRIETO


Berta Prieto (Barcelona, 1998) is a Catalan actress, playwright and director. She has trained as an actress in various performing arts schools, and she is currently studying for a degree in Humanities.

She became known for Autodefensa, a series that she co-created along with Miguel Ángel Blanca and Belén Barenys, and in which she also played the protagonist. Autodefensa was produced by FILMIN and Boogaloo films and premiered in November 2022 at the European Film Festival in Seville. It was also screened at various other film festivals such as the Barcelona Alternative Film Festival, and Series Mania, where it won the award for ‘best short series’. It received two Feroz Award nominations in the categories ‘Best Screenplay for a Series’ and ‘Best Comedy Series.’ Autodefensa has also received other nominations in the screenplay category at the ALMA Awards (run by the writers’ guild), among others.

Her theatre debut, together with Lola Rosales, was El Chinabum (dir. Paula Ribó, Teatre La Gleva, 2018). Her second show, her own creation, was FUCK YOU MODERN FAMILY (o todo sobre mi abuela) (dir. Anna Serrano, Bitò Produccions, Sala Beckett, 2019).

In 2022, Berta received a creative grant from Sala Beckett, thanks to which her third show was born: Derecho a Pataleta. La missió més trepidant de Les Espies de veritat (dir. Lola Rosales and Berta Prieto, Sala Beckett, 2023).

In 2023, Berta and Lola Rosales presented two new shows: El Chinabum Remix (Teatre La Gleva, 2023), and Derecho a Pataleta. La missió més trepidant de Les Espies de veritat (dir. Lola Rosales and Berta Prieto, Las Chatis de Montalbán, Sala Beckett, 2023), in which she participated as playwright, director and actress.

Berta also participates in other projects as a screenwriter.
