La tinta simpática

La tinta simpática
Seix Barral, 1988

(Invisible Ink) This is the story of a painter who in the riddle of a picture debates the riddle of his whole life, which is ultimately the essential riddle of any human being, written with traces that only the light of time will make visible.

An outstanding capacity for the creation of atmospheres, from a Rome which is as beautiful as it is worn, to the macabre ghostliness of a Spain at war and rare touches of observation serve a tale which is ironic when it chooses, and also moving in its essential melancholies; which constitutes a lucid summary of the last lap of the protagonist’s journey, and within this the scope of the relationships between art and reality, between experience and pretence, between that lived in full consciousness and that which is only ambiguously sensed in the bold dispersion of daily existence.

(Spain, Seix Barral)
