Vicenç Pagès Jordà has worked in education, publishing and journalism. In 1989 he was the winner of Biennal de Barcelona and a year after he published his first book of short stories. Since then he has published several novels and essays. Among them El món d´Horaci (Empúries, 1995), Carta a la reina d´Anglaterra (Empúries, 1997, City of Olot Prize), Un tramvia anomenat text (Empúries, 1998), En companyia de l´altre (Edicions 62, 1999, Documenta Prize), El poeta i altres contes (Proa, 2005, Mercè Rodoreda Prize) and De Robinson Crusoe a Peter Pan. Un cànon de literatura juvenil (Proa, 2006). In 2003 he was awarded de Sant Joan Prize for his novel La felicitat no és completa (Edicions 62; El Aleph, 2004). His latest work published after the succes of Els jugadors de Whist (Empúries, 2009) is El llibre de l'any (Labutxaca, 2011).
