Roda de Ter, 1945
Miquel Obiols or Leuqim Sloibo is a writer from Catalonia who entered university to study Pharmacy and ended up with a degree in Romance Languages. In 1977 he published ¡Ay, Filomena, Filomena! and was one of the inventors of the first children’s television program in Catalan: Terra d’escudella. Since then he has been creating and writing television programs and books (El misterio de Buster Keaton, El tigre de Mary Plexiglás, Libro de las M’Alicias, among others). He has also done some translations. He has won several awards such as Joaquim Ruyra, The Ministerio de Cultura, The Generalitat de Catalunya and The Critici in Erba. He is an enthusiast of theatre, film and painting and enjoys playing with language, a passion that is reflected in his work 55 taques i gargots (Columna, 2002). His childhood experiences, mixed with the most modern reality, are the basis of his stories of imaginary worlds.
