Ignacio MARTÍNEZ DE PISóN

Ignacio Martínez de Pisón is the author of several novellas (La ternura del dragón, 1984; Antofagasta, 1987; El fin de los buenos tiempos, 1994 and María bonita, 2000); short story collections (Alguien te observa en secreto, 1985; Foto de familia, 1998) and novels (Nuevo plano de la ciudad secreta, 1992; Carreteras secundarias, 1996 –that has two film versions made by E. Martínez Lázaro (Spain, 1997) and Manuel Poirier (France, 2004)– and El tiempo de las mujeres, 2003) all of them published by Anagrama. Enterrar a los muertos (Seix Barral, 2005), unanimously praised by the critics in various countries, is his only book of narrative non-fiction to date, which won the Rodolfo Walsh and Dulce Chacón Prizes, and was Fundación José Manuel Lara Prize and Crítica Award finalist.
Martínez de Pisón is a best-selling author, has been recipient to several literary awards and is also very successful as an author of books for young adults. His works are widely translated. After his novel Dientes de leche (Seix Barral, 2008; Premio Giuseppe Acerbi 2012) ), in 2009 RBA published Partes de Guerra a compilation of stories by different authors, selected and edited by Martínez de Pisón. Partes de Guerra aspires to be the great collective novel of the civil war. His latest published books are the volume of stories Aeropuerto de Funchal (Seix Barral, 2009) and the novel El día de mañana (Seix Barral, 2011). This work has been awarded the Ciutat de Barcelona 2012 Award, the National Critics Prize 2011, the Letras Aragonesas 2011 Prize and the Espartaco Award 2012 to the best Historical Novel Published in Spanish in 2011 at the Semana Negra, the Noir and Thriller Literary Festival that takes place every year in Gijón (Spain).
