Ignacio GARCÍA-VALIÑO
Zaragoza, 1968
Ignacio García-Valiño is the author of a book of short stories La caja de música y otros cuentos (1993) and several screenplays. He has published seven novels to date: La irresistible nariz de Verónica (José Mª de Pereda Award; Pre-Textos, 1997), Urías y el rey David (Debate, 1997; Punto de lectura, 2005), La caricia del escorpión (second-winner of the Nadal Award, Destino, 1998), Una cosa es el silencio (Destino, 1999), Las dos muertes de Sócrates (Alfaguara, 2003), Querido Caín (Plaza & Janés, 2006) second winner of the V Novel Award Ciudad de Torrevieja and El corazón de la materia (Plaza & Janés, 2008). He also writes books for young adults: Pablo y el hilo de Ariadna (Anaya, 2003), and for children: Yago, el cocodrilo vegetariano (Buchmann, 2008). After This Book Will Save Your Life (Marboré, 2008), a humorous critique of self-help books, he has published Educating the Panther (Debate, 2010), a study of antisocial behavior in children and adolescents by a great writer and expert on the subject.
