Joan-Daniel BEZSONOFF

Perpignan, 1963

Joan-Daniel Bezsonoff is a teacher of Catalan language in Perpignan and writes for the Rossellonese edition of the newspaper El Punt and the Quadern in El País. His first novels, among which Les rambles de Saigon (1996), Les lletres d’amor no serveixen de res (1997), La revolta dels geperuts (1999) and Les dones de paper (2001) are notable, were published by the Rossellonese publisher Trabucaire. Empúries published La presonera d’Alger (2002), La guerra dels cornuts (2004, winner of the Just M. Casero Award 2003 and the Mediterranée Prize 2004), Les Amnèsies de Déu (2005, winner of the Salambó, Crexells and Maria Àngels Anglada Awards), Els taxistes del Tsar (2007), Un país de butxaca (2010) and La melancolia dels oficials (Empúries, 2011). L’Avenç published Una educació francesa (2009) winner of the Lletra d'Or 2010 Award and his latest work, Les meues universitats (L'Avenç, 2012).
